Correctional Officer Disqualifiers
Criminal History:
- Conviction of any Felony offense
- Conviction of a Class 1 Misdemeanor (Convictions of Reckless Driving and Class 2 Misdemeanors will be evaluated on a case by case basis)
- Conviction of a Class 3 or 4 Misdemeanor will be reviewed on a case by case basis
- Conviction of a crime involving moral turpitude (crimes contrary to justice, honesty or good morals)
Traffic Violations:
- Minus 6 or more points on an operator’s license will be reviewed on a case by case basis
- Conviction of Driving under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol, Refusal to take Blood or Breath test, Eluding Police, Racing or Hit and Run
- Incidents involving the suspension or revocation of driving privileges will be reviewed on a case by case basis
Other:
- Dishonorable discharge from any military service. Less than Honorable or General Discharge will be reviewed on a case by case basis
- Untruthfulness or falsification of any application, certificate, credential, interview, test or documents offered in accordance with the application process
- Failure to provide complete and accurate information to the background investigator
- Failure to keep appointments without proper notification
- Background investigations indicating less than acceptable job performance with current or past employers
- Incidents of past physical or mental abuse of any person
- Obtaining a score that is below the established minimum standard on any test or evaluation administered during the application process
- Cheating on any examination or testing associated with this position
- Behavior unsuitable or inappropriate for an employee as determined by the appointing Authority
- Applicants who do not receive a passing score on the written examination or physical agility test may request to retake the testing after 60 days.
